Tips
When leaving a personal message, provide beneficial detailed information such as your full name, the current date and time, where you’re going or already at, an approximate check-in time, what you’re wearing, and WHO you’re with or going to meet.
Remember, this message is only acted upon in the event you don’t check-in, therefore your message may be needed later by your designated emergency
contact(s) or even your local authorities.
Sample Personal Message:
A member has called at 10:09pm EST, March 15 and left a personal message,
“Hi, This is Julie Smith, it’s Friday, about 10pm, ‘um I think it’s March 17th. I’m out at The Bar & Grill in Anytown, wearing a white blouse, and black jeans, I drove myself here…. I’ve met John Doe, he’s not a stiff at all!!!!, Tall Blond Hair/Blue eyes…love the black leather coat…He drives a black 2 door Lexus….. I think….he said he works in computers.…I’ll probably check-in before noon tomorrow.”
Scenario 1:
Now the clock has started…the member has a contact preference to follow-up of after 12 hours with no check-in. After 10:09am EST the next morning, A reminder Email is sent to the members primary email address. *A Member may receive additional messages, for example: home#, alt email, alt ph# according to the member profile). With no member Check-in,
My Backup Buddy, calls the member’s primary telephone number (cell or home selected by the member) with a message: Sample “This is My Backup Buddy, you have a pending message that has not been cleared, please call and check-in as soon as possible, Thank you.” The member has not checked email and the member’s cell phone (member primary contact number) has been off, (Saturday is a morning to sleep in for this member), the member checks cell phone messages, calls My Backup Buddy and checks in at 11:30am EST, erasing the original message from last night. No further follow-up is needed from My Backup Buddy. My Backup Buddy is ready to accept a new check-in message.

Scenario 2:
The clock is still running, after 4:00pm EST the next day, the member has not checked-in (now 18 hours after the original member message). My Backup Buddy has called the member’s primary and alternate telephone numbers and has sent reminder email messages. NOW My Backup Buddy emails then calls the Primary Emergency Contact with a message to remind the member to check-in with My Backup Buddy as soon as possible.
Sample "This is My Backup Buddy, you are the emergency contact for a member who still has a pending message that has not been cleared, please remind the member to call and check-in as soon as possible, Thank you."
The member didn't check-in until 5:00pm EST (Erases the original Check-in message from last night therefore no further follow-up is needed from My Backup Buddy.) My Backup Buddy is ready to accept a new message. The member is fine, after waking up, went shopping, had lunch, and the cell phone was off. (After returning home, retrieved home phone and email messages. The member also talked to the emergency contact who received messages that the member had not checked-in with My Backup Buddy.)
|
Scenario 3:
The clock is still running, multiple messages have been left for the Member, the Primary Emergency Contact and the Alternate Emergency Contact and after approximately 30 hours from the Member’s original Check-in message and no member check-in response, on the member’s behalf, My Backup Buddy will begin processing a Missing Person’s Report for the member’s emergency contact(s) to provide to the local authorities. (Hopefully this never occurs, but if it would, the member’s profile information and voice mail message could then be made available to a member’s local authority.)
